Roll for Inclusion
Where play meets purpose,
because employability doesn’t have to be dull.
What is Roll for Inclusion?
Roll for Inclusion is Work’n’Diversity’s innovative employability and community programme that uses Dungeons & Dragons–inspired role-play to develop real-world skills. Instead of dull training sessions, we run immersive campaigns where participants solve problems, collaborate, and take on challenges as part of a party, developing fundamental skills for their career, employment, team building and life.
It’s fun, engaging, and proven to build the confidence, communication, and resilience.
Why Tabletop roleplay?
Tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) like Dungeons & Dragons aren’t just entertainment: they’re engines for growth. Every campaign requires communication, negotiation, and teamwork. Every character has strengths that contribute to the group’s success. And every decision is a chance to build confidence in a safe, low-stakes environment.
Unlike traditional training or workshops, roleplay engages imagination and play, making learning memorable, active, and fun.
In our 100% tailored quests, developed by our skilled DMs:
Every quest requires teamwork. Players must listen, negotiate, and support each other to succeed.
Every choice builds confidence. Taking decisions in-game translates into making braver choices in real life.
Every character has strengths. By exploring different roles, participants discover and celebrate their own.
By weaving employability and inclusion into a game setting, Roll for Inclusion makes learning memorable, meaningful, and enjoyable.

How It Works
We design and run structured campaigns tailored to your group. A typical programme runs over 6–8 weekly sessions, though one-off workshops and away days are also available.
Each session includes:
Gameplay: a guided D&D-inspired adventure that links to communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Reflection: time to connect in-game choices to real-world skills.
Application: activities and coaching that help participants transfer learning into education, job-seeking, or the workplace.

Who Is It For
Roll for Inclusion offers different pathways for different audiences:
Students – workshops to build confidence, explore careers, and strengthen communication skills.
Jobseekers – employability-focused quests and coaching to prepare for applications, interviews, and teamwork.
Companies – inclusive away days and team-building experiences that foster creativity, resilience, and collaboration.
Community Groups & Families – open sessions designed to bring people together, boost confidence, and celebrate strengths in a safe and supportive space.

Why It Works
Role-play offers what many other methods can’t: a space where people can try out new ideas, voices, and strategies without fear of judgement or consequences. Mistakes become opportunities, not failures. Collaborative storytelling creates trust, while the game’s structure reduces anxiety and helps people feel safe.
For students and jobseekers, this translates into stronger communication, self-esteem, and resilience.
For companies, it builds camaraderie, problem-solving, and inclusive teamwork.
For communities, it fosters connection, creativity, and confidence across all ages and backgrounds.
Research & Impact
Roll for Inclusion didn’t come out of nowhere. It grew out of our lived experience, our belief in creative learning, and the evidence we kept seeing about how powerful tabletop roleplay can be.
We’ve seen (and experienced!) first-hand how a campaign can give someone the courage to speak up, how taking on a character can make it easier to practise teamwork, and how laughter around the table builds real bonds. Those stories are at the heart of why we run this programme.
And, also, here’s some research that backs it up:
A University of Plymouth study (2024–25) found that autistic adults in a six-week D&D campaign reported feeling more confident, less need to mask, and more comfortable in social situations.
A UK systematic review (2025) concluded that TTRPGs consistently boost communication, emotional regulation, and social functioning for neurodivergent players.
A global scoping review (2024) covering over 50 studies showed that roleplay can reduce anxiety, strengthen collaboration, and promote well-being across communities.
Roll for Inclusion is where that evidence meets real practice: bringing research to life through playful, inclusive sessions that help people grow together.
