The training is named after Oliver McGowan. Oliver was a young man whose death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to have better skills, knowledge and understanding of the needs for autistic people and people with a learning disability. It is the government’s preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff.

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is the standardised training, and by law it needs to always be delivered by three people: one facilitator, an expert with learning disability and an expert with autism.
This not only ensures the fairness of the training but provides the best learning environment for trainees to ask questions and learn directly from experts by experience.
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is the government's preferred and recommended training for all health and social care staff in public and private settings.
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training has been designed to last for a full work day from 9 am to 5 pm. However, can be delivered in two or three days if needed.
We are happy to provide you with multiple training sessions to make sure all your staff gets trained. The cap on the amount of attendees for each training is to ensure that all trainees receive the best quality training possible and can engage fully with our experts.
Absolutely! If you book a full training with us we are happy to provide you with accessible material to meet all attendees needs. The best way to do this is to have a meeting in advance to discuss any adaptation you might need for your staff.
After you book a training with us either by contacting us or through our website, we will email you on your preferred email to ask if you need any adaptation to the material.
